Indianapolis Colts Face Falcons in German Capital – NFL Week 10
Guten tag, football fans. Wie gehts? Alles klar I hope on this fine early start to week 10 coming straight outta Deutschland. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be precise where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the powerful Colts (seven wins and two losses) face off against the Falcons (3-5). The fifth game played on German soil and the first in the capital city.
Pre-match Key Moments
As sparkly jackets go that is an real standout from Katarina Witt on the opening flip. A minor slip from the broadcast team there as we hear “which team got the coin flip?” from the presenter with an accidentally live microphone.
So, the Colts have won the toss and have elected to receive. Daniel Jones and company will be setting up shortly. Can the quarterback recover after a rough one in their last game?
In a similar vein the vocalist performing the US national anthem has some of the largest shoulder pads you are bound to notice. The fashion picks are impressive today. The game is about to start after a choral number for the German anthem. Classy.
First Quarter Action
Scoreless at 13:30 in the first
Here we go! And we have an exciting start after Jonathan Taylor catches a screen pass, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right then loses the ball … only for his offensive lineman to recover the fumble with the ball retrieval. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.
Still scoreless at 10:51
And the drama keeps coming as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The risk doesn't work out as the wide receiver fails to catch a fastball from the quarterback. On the play before the turnover on downs Jessie Bates put a huge hit on the Colts' tight end. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they attempt to end their three-game losing streak. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!
Score Updates
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-0 Falcons 8:36, 1st quarter
Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The Falcons player makes a crucial error, he was very open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That play rather sums up the first round pick’s career to date.
So far, so disappointing but it only gets worse for the Atlanta as they turn over possession to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard line. Michael Penix Jr is sacked and can’t keep hold of the ball.
A nifty 22-yard run from Ashton Dulin sets Jonathan Taylor up to easily run for a touchdown on the following play. The placekicker skews the extra point wide. Oops.
Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07
Penix Jr puts the fumble behind him by marching his Falcons down the field for a score of their own. Drake London makes some chunky receptions to put them in the scoring area then the defense opens up for the running back to run untouched into the end zone through the middle of the defense for a 13-yard gain. The running back finishes it off for a short scoring run of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
Other Tenth Week Games
And for afters, the jumbo package starting at 12pm CST/1pm EST/6pm GMT (with home teams first) is as follows:
(5-4) Carolina Panthers v Saints (1-8)
(5-3) Bears v Giants (2-7)
(3-5) Houston Texans v Jacksonville Jaguars (5-3)

(4-4) Vikings v Ravens (3-5)

An exciting lineup. I’m planting my flag on the Vikings and Ravens playing out the game of the day.
